The two guitarist were DI'd as they were using 2 semi-acoustics. Instead of a full drum kit, the drummer simply used a Cajon which me and Jason mic'd up at the back with a D112 and at the front with a SM57. We used the D112 because it is essentially a kick drum mic and figured it would be great for picking up a nice bass strong sound from the back and we used the SM57 to pick up the higher slapping/hitting sounds coming from the front of the Cajon. These 2 sounds , picked up by the mics, produced a nice strong solid sound for the Cajon. The bass was simply played coming out of the amp due to it not needing much amplification in such a small venue and the keyboard was DI'd.
The only real problem was that we couldn't get sound to come out from the keyboard, which we really could not understand at first since we had already line checked everything but we eventually found out that channel 4 and 5 were switched about and immediately sorted out the issue. There were no other issues at all during the gig so overall it went very well for us and we got plenty of good feedback from people in the brasserie and the band themselves, who went on to play a few encores.
This is the channel list for the gig.
Channel 1: Cajon Box Rear
2: Cajon Box, Sm57 to front of box.
3: Acoustic guitar Right
4: Keyboard
5: Acoustic guitar Left
6: Vocal Left
7: Vocal Right
